THE PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE CONTINUES WITH ITS OVERSIGHT VISIT AT MAREETSANE POLICE STATION
The Portfolio Committee of Public Works & Roads and Community Safety and Transport Management, accompanied by Department of Community Safety and Transport Management officials took their week long oversight visit in the Ngaka Modiri Molema district to Mareetsane Police Station. This oversight visit is the mandate of the Portfolio Committee to assess the state of the Police Stations and recommend the remedial actions to fast track the service delivery with less hiccups. Mareetsane Police Station management together with the Department Civilian Secretariat for Police Service Chief Directorate presented the challenges facing the station before the Portfolio Committee and actions taken to minimise them. Crime recorded by the station for the period of April - December 2022 are burglary to businesses and residential areas, rape, common assault has recorded the highest cases reported, stock theft and gender based violence against women and children.
